Under-appreciated feature: The auto-populated lists in templates
Or, “I added a custom report to my profile and it’s not showing up at all!”
WebTrends allows you to make custom reports like crazy, but it’s a big letdown when you create a custom report but fail to find it in the reports after analysis.
Before you start debugging and questioning your skills at making reports, check this. Did you add the custom report to the template you use? The report is probably there, all populated with data, but the template doesn’t allow it to display in the Table of Contents. If you add that report to your template you’ll see it right away.
But WebTrends also has a way to automatically show every custom report in a profile whether you remember to add it to the template or not. It’s a template chapter (or heading, or folder) called “Custom Reports.”
Edit your template. Make sure the name of the template is highlighted (do this in order to have the new chapter appear in the highest level of the T of C hierarchy). Go to Content, then Add Report. In the dropdown menu called “Add Items from Available…” choose “Auto-Populated Report Library.” Choose “Custom Reports.” Close out.
You’ll now have a Custom Reports chapter in your template that displays every active custom report for the profile you are looking at, automagically, all in one list.
